1. How is the WiFi?

WiFi at the villas is generally very good and reliable. That said, there are times when the connection is interrupted or speeds slow down.

2. What about electricity in Bali?

Bali uses 220 volt electricity with standard European sockets for ‘Type C’ plugs. We do have adapters in the rooms and at the reception for your use.

3. Is there mobile phone service?

There is no mobile phone coverage at Aquamarine Beach Villas. We recommend that you use WhatsApp or FaceTime to communicate over the internet. Our reception has a landline for domestic calls which you are more than welcome to use.

4. What’s going on with Mount Agung volcano?

Agung is an active volcano that has been quiet for the past couple of years. We are 32 Km from the volcano in a very safe area of Bali. This sacred volcano is a part of Bali life and highly revered.

5. Where can I change money?

There are money changers in the Amed area. The rates will be fair but not as good as a bank.

6. Are there ATMs in the area?

Yes, there about 6 ATMs in the general Amed area.

7. What is the tipping policy?

A 5% service charge is included in your bill. If you have enjoyed your time and the service provided by the staff an additional tip is always appreciated. This is entirely up to you.

8. How do I move around?

Most of our guests walk or rent scooters. There are no taxis, Ubers or public transportation in the Amed area. A car and driver can be hired for short excursions or full day sight-seeing trips. Prices are available in the villa. Our staff can help you organize transportation.

9. Do I need an international permit/license to drive a scooter or car in Bali?

If you plan to drive around Bali you should have an international permit. If you are stopped by the traffic police and you do not have a permit, expect to pay fines.

10. Are there restaurants nearby?

There are a handfull of restaurants within walking distance. Trattoria is on the property and serves Italian classics. Other restaurants are a short distance from the villas and some offer complimentary transfers. Our Welcome Book has a list of recommendations and contact numbers.

11. Is there a hospital or doctor nearby?

The closest hospital is in Amplapura - about a 45 minute drive. Services are limited. Full service hospitals are located in Denpasar and Kuta about 2.5 hours away. A general practitioner (GP) or family doctor is available in the Amed area.

12. What about mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes are prevelant in Bali all year round. Our rooms have mosquito screens on the windows and / or mosquito nets over the beds and are sprayed daily by our housekeeping staff. Electric mosquito repellent pads are available for in-rooom use. Mosquito coils are available for use on the terrace and outdoor areas. We recommend using personal mosquito repellent during the rainy season in the early evenings.

13. Is there Malaria in Bali?

Malaria is extremely rare in Bali. Proper precautions and awareness will allow you to enjoy your time on the island.

14. Do I need to worry about Dengue?

Proper precautions and awareess should keep you dengue-free during your visit to Bali. We have not had any cases of dengue fever at our properties. During the rainy season, we recommend using personal mosquito repellent in the late afternoons, setting up a burning mosquito coil for the terrace and using the electric mosquito pads in the bedrooms. Bug spray is available in the villas to knock-down any nuisance insects. We do use fogging on the property to reduce mosquitoes during the rainy season.

15. Can I buy medicine in Bali?

There are many pharmacies in Bali. A popular chain is KIMIA Apotek. Common medicines can be purchased without a prescription such antihistamines, antibiotics, antacids and antidiarrheals.

16. What medicines should I bring?

We recommend a basic personal first aid kit when traveling to Bali. Bandages, tape, antiseptic solution, antibiotic cream, antacid pills, ibuprofen, aspirin, or paracetamol. All of these basic items are available in your villa and can be easily purchased at a pharmacy.

17. Should I bring snorkeling gear?

We have snorkeling gear for hire at the villas. Gear may be rented hourly or daily.

18. Should I bring my scuba gear to Bali?

You can rent scuba gear with the dive center you are joining. This will be rental standard and most likely not the same quality as your personal gear. If you’re particular about your, mask, fins,regulator and BCD – pack your gear!
